Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said though the state's treasury was empty and non plan staggering at Rs. 14, 000 crore the state government would not leave any stone unturned for the development of the state.
Addressing the public meeting at Ramnagar on Friday, Chief Minister Bahuguna said that the help of Central Government would be taken for the development of state. He said that the state would avail of all the development projects initiated by the Central Government. "From June 10 the Union Ministers will start visiting Utttarakhand," he said.
Mr. Bahuguna said that the Congress Government was committed towards the welfare of the people and would fulfill its promises made in the election manifesto. He said that good governance and development was the main aim of the State Government. "The State Government will prepare proposals for the development works and send them to the Centre for the funds," he said and added that the Centre would definitely extend its full support. Mr. Bahuguna said that state government had decided to pay Border Allowance to workers posted in border areas, has announced to give land ownership to people and constituted a Committee to simplify the process of obtaining caste certificates. He said that the State Government was also working towards the welfare of Van Gujjars. Mr. Bahuguna describing Gairsen as an identity of statehood movement, said that a Cabinet briefing would be conducted in Gairsen and an Assembly Session the next year. He said that the state government would buy additional 150 MW power in coming two weeks for the relief of the general public.
Chief Minister Bahuguna responding to the request of Ramnagar MLA and Cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat assured construction of Ramnagar-Kotdwar-Kandi Road, bridge over River Sanvalde, beautification of various roads, renovation of Ramnagar-Karnprayag Road, ANM Centre at Patrani, Law Section in Government College, constructions of Roadways Depot, Stadium and setting up of Sub Office of Kumaon University at Haldwani.
Earlier, Tourism Minister Amrita Rawat apprised the Chief Minister about various problems existing in Ramnagar areas and urged him to keep the Ramnagar Tourism Zone out of power-cuts.
MP Garhwal Satpal Maharaj said that the MPs were regularly keeping the problems of Uttarakhand in Lok Sabha and were in effort to resolve those problems. He demanded a land for the construction of Airport at Corbett City Ramnagar to boost tourism. He urged the Chief Minister to convert forest villages to revenue village and to ensure scientific mining in Koshi-Dabka and other rivers.
Also present on the occasion were Revenue Minister Yashpal Arya, Labour and Small Industries Minister Harish Chandra Durgapal, Chairman Mandi Samiti Dr. Shailendra Mohan Singh, Nagarpalika Chairman Hazi Mohammed Akram, Congress leaders Satish Nainwal, Tara Singh Negi and Mahipal Singh Dangwal.
Chief Minister Bahuguna also visited ITI Kania and inaugurated newly constructed workshop constructed under PPP mode with Bajaj Auto Limited, Pantnagar. He said that the state government would encourage technical education so that the local youths would not have to leave state for jobs. "We want that maximum local youths get employment in SIDCUL," he said.
Vice Chairman of Bajaj Auto CK Tripathy said that availability of requisite machines and equipments, and upgradation of trades would be ensured in the Workshop. He said that process would be started to introduce further new trades by August this year.
